Team Lead
Medical doctor (MBChB)
Dr Ismail Munyamu is a medical doctor (MBChB) driven by a mission to connect people who are passionate about creating positive, sustainable change in their communities.
He represents Uganda at the Local Youth Assembly International, a civic and humanitarian youth-led organisation based in Canada and Nigeria. He is Deputy Country Director at YouthLink Networks, a London-based charity operating in Uganda; a partner at BeMore Global Consulting, Nigeria; and a Youth Advisor and Health Thematic Lead on the European Union Youth Sounding Board Uganda, where he advises the EU Delegation to Uganda on mainstreaming youth issues in the EU development agenda.

Co-Team Lead
Malaria prevention and policy advocate
Hilder Namuddu is Co-Team Lead of Malaria Youth Champions Uganda, a youth-led public health advocacy group. She spearheads community-based malaria prevention campaigns and strategic policy initiatives to accelerate elimination and advance Universal Health Coverage.
Drawing on her leadership in seasonal malaria chemoprevention and social media mobilisation, Hilder cultivates youth innovation, forges partnerships with government and civil society, and empowers her peers to drive grassroots action against malaria for measurable impact across Uganda.

General Secretary
One Young World Ambassador
Denis Kisubi is a campaigner, leader and One Young World Ambassador, dedicated to empowering young people to become agents of change and to challenge social injustice. He is deeply involved in initiatives such as the African Youth Charter Hustlers Initiative and Project Pakati Africa, where he amplifies youth-led advocacy across the continent.
Denis was instrumental in founding Malaria Youth Champions Uganda, an initiative supported by the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) and the Ministry of Health’s National Malaria Elimination Division, where he serves as General Secretary. A scholar of human rights at Equitas Canada and of public management at the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa, he has supported more than 200 changemakers worldwide through seed funding as a Grant Advisor at The Pollination Project Foundation. His work reflects a lasting commitment to leadership and sustainable development across Africa.

Program Manager
Social worker and health advocate
Fadhira Nsimbi is a social worker, health advocate and feminist with a strong commitment to creating positive change in her community. As Program Manager at MYCU, she is passionate about promoting health equity and access to health care, particularly for marginalised communities. She reads and writes braille, which allows her to communicate effectively with people who are blind.
She is deeply committed to the rights and empowerment of girls and women, and believes economic empowerment and education are the key to unlocking their potential. Through her work with MYCU she has dedicated herself to the fight against malaria in Uganda: raising awareness of its impact, particularly on young people, children under five and pregnant women, and advocating for more funding and support for malaria services at national and community level.

Community Engagement Lead
Public health expert
Dr Osondi Boniface is a public health expert and the Community Engagement Lead volunteer with Malaria Youth Champions Uganda. With a passion for grassroots advocacy, he works tirelessly to mobilise communities and promote innovative malaria prevention strategies.
His extensive experience in public health and community outreach empowers local residents, inspiring collaboration and sustainable change. Dr Osondi is wholeheartedly committed to transforming Uganda’s malaria response through strategic partnerships and compassionate leadership.

Creative technologist
Mathias Muruhuura is the Innovations Lead volunteer with Malaria Youth Champions Uganda. He uses his creativity and technical expertise to drive breakthrough solutions in the fight against malaria.
Dedicated to advancing public health, Mathias works with dynamic teams to develop and put in place innovative strategies that empower communities, strengthen malaria prevention and inspire young people to help create a healthier future for Uganda. He remains committed to continuous, sustainable innovation.

Communications Assistant
Pilgrim Africa
Aggrey Bwaita is Communications Assistant at MYCU and Marketing and Communications Manager at Pilgrim Africa, where he leads efforts to advance community development through impactful marketing campaigns and strategic stakeholder engagement. His work blends a passion for social impact with the organisation’s vision, driving initiatives that leave a meaningful mark across the region.
With an academic background in marketing strategy, brand growth and management from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), he brings expertise in public relations, brand management and social media marketing. His focus is on communication strategies that promote sustainability and health and reach diverse audiences.
Aggrey also chairs the PR Committee for the annual Rotary Family Carnival, organised by Malaria Free Uganda, one of the region’s most anticipated events.

Joy Naluwemba is a fourth-year medical student at Kampala International University and the Social Media Lead for MYCU. A public health enthusiast, she has been involved in several social and public health initiatives, and believes that if we put our hands together, we can eliminate malaria.

As Information Volunteer at Malaria Youth Champions Uganda, he uses his passion for technology to support malaria advocacy and digital communications. His dedication to harnessing data and emerging technologies drives impactful public health initiatives, and his creativity and technical expertise help the organisation work towards its mission of a malaria-free Uganda.

He is also a devoted husband and father, an enthusiast of habitat and environmental aesthetics, and a hospitality and tourism entrepreneur.

African Leaders Malaria Alliance
Dr Anne Gasasira is a medical doctor with a PhD in epidemiology and expertise in developing and managing academic, applied and operations research projects. She is particularly interested in using data to inform health programming and to guide the development and evaluation of health interventions and policies.
Her specialities include HIV and malaria clinical and operations research with a focus on evaluations, health technical advice and consultancies, and health data analysis.

Joan Kirunga is a Data Scientist at Stanbic Bank Uganda with more than seven years in data science and risk analytics. She develops and deploys machine learning models (from credit risk and financial loss forecasting to ATM cash demand prediction) to anticipate business risks.
As a member of the Youth Advisory Board of Malaria Youth Champions Uganda, she applies her analytics expertise to shape evidence-based public health policy and drive effective malaria prevention.

Henry Mugenyi is an award-winning health journalist at NBS TV Uganda, where he covers national health and science for broadcast and digital audiences.
With training from BBC Africa and Code for Africa, he has established himself as a leading investigative reporter. Passionate about public health advocacy, Henry serves on the Youth Advisory Board of Malaria Youth Champions Uganda, guiding youth-led initiatives to advance malaria prevention, influence policy and empower communities across Uganda.
