About the Project
A Youth-Led, Gender-Transformative Initiative
The Gender Equality Fund (GEF) Project is an initiative implemented by ALMA with support from the Global Fund, promoting data-driven, inclusive, and gender-transformative approaches toward malaria elimination and Universal Health Coverage. Countries engaged in implementation include Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda and the Republic of Zambia.
In Uganda, MYCU is implementing the project in Iganga (Busoga subregion) and Bukedea (Teso subregion), empowering youth and communities to address gender-related barriers in access to health services.
Project Objectives
Strengthen accountability
to address gender-related barriers through community scorecards
Empower young women
and female-led malaria youth corps for advocacy and leadership
Promote
gender-transformative policies and inclusive health programming
Key Takeaway: The transition from Red ➡ Yellow ➡ Green demonstrates tangible improvements in service delivery. These changes reflect how community-driven accountability and regular follow-up dialogues foster real impact in health systems performance.
